5 Reasons Why Your Instagram Is Failing
You started a business and knew that you had to be on social media (well done! You’ve passed the first test), so, you created an Instagram account. You’ve been posting on it every day. But, you haven’t got past 2 likes per post (1 of which is you on your personal account and the other is your mum). You can’t seem to work out what you are doing wrong.
We’re here to help! Read on for our top 5 reasons why your Instagram might be failing.
1. Your posting for the sake of posting
Posting 2, 3 or even 5 times per day won’t grow your account… *if your content doesn’t speak to your audience 👀
When deciding what to post it's important to understand your audience's values and feelings and create content that aligns with them. Think about answering questions that they might have, and addressing a problem that they might find. Don’t just focus on selling the product. Instead, show them why they NEED the product.
Take the time to understand your audience's values and interests and create content that speaks directly to them. Remember, it's not about how often you post, but the quality of what you post.
Never just post for the sake of posting.
2. You're not looking at your insights
Or, maybe you’re looking at them but, you don’t understand them. Your insights can be found on your Instagram account on your profile. Click on ‘Professional dashboard’ 👉🏽 ‘Insights’. Here you will find Accounts reached, engaged, total followers and content you have shared.
Use the information that Instagram gives you here to build your strategy. You can see what content has performed the best (judge this based on saves and shares), what time your audience is most active and therefore what time you should post and how many accounts you're currently reaching.
3. You’re not engaging with your potential and current followers
Engaging is such an important part of growing on Instagram. The platform's main purpose is to keep you on the app for as long as possible to eventually make money off of you. So, if you’re simply posting a picture and jumping straight off the app then the algorithm won’t favour you or show your content to others.
If people don’t know about you then how will they know to engage with your content? You can’t rely solely on the hashtags or keywords that you have used to push your content out. Instead, you have to go out there and find your potential followers yourself and interact with them.
I could talk all day about why engaging is important but, the last point is that it’s nice to be nice. Find people who you think will find your content helpful and comment on their content. Tell them that they look pretty, or that you love their dress. They’ll then be more likely to comment on your posts and maybe even give you a follow.
If this sounds too time-consuming for you then I offer an engagement package starting from as little as £100 per month for 20 minutes of engagement M-F.

4. You’re not posting consistently
Sticking to a social media schedule is really important but, it’s more important to find one that you can stick to. Yes, if you post 5 meaningful posts per week that speak to your audience then that is amazing. But, if you find yourself struggling with time and knowing what to post, then reduce that to 3 times per week.
It’s better to post 3 amazing well thought-through posts per week that speak to your audience than 5 that don’t. It’s also much better to stick to your schedule. Don’t post 1 the first week and 7 the next then back to 1. Instagram or your audience won’t know what’s going on and it won’t help anyone.
5. You’re posting without a strategy
This comes back to posting for the sake of posting. Posting with no strategy can be detrimental to your account. A lack of strategy might result in oversharing or posting content that is irrelevant to your goals, potentially alienating your followers.
Without a clear purpose, you may miss opportunities to engage with your audience effectively or convey your message in a meaningful way. A strategic approach to social media ensures that your online presence aligns with your objectives, enhances your credibility, and contributes positively to your overall digital identity.
